Hello Summer

It’s Memorial Day weekend and summer is officially here! Well, officially is terms of school being out and the sauna like conditions. I guess TECHNICALLY it doesn’t start til June 21. But who really goes by that summer moon business anyways!
So it’s time for lake trips and pool parties, cold drinks, popcicles (my personal pregnant favorite). All kinds of fun stuff happens in the summer!
However, I wanted to take a minute to reflect on Memorial Day. It’s pretty easy to get distracted by the BBQs and the day off of work, but there is something important to remember on Memorial Day. See, they try and spark our memory with the word Memorial but sometimes the heat is so distracting! It’s a weekend to appreciate and honor the heroic men and women who have fought, and are fighting, to protect our freedoms. What an amazing sacrifice!
I don’t have any close relatives or friends currently enlisted in the military but many of you do. Many of our grandfathers served in wars, our friends from high school or college are overseas now, and for some its their spouse or sibling. People leave their families and loved ones, their 8-5 desk jobs, and their In n Out burgers to serve our country. I can hardly grasp the experience of going to war and what our military endures overseas. All I can do is try to honor them as best as I can, pray for them, and remember those who have lost their lives. Try and take a moment this weekend to remember our veterans, thank them, hug them, or say a little prayer for them. We have so much because of their willingness to sacrifice.
If you have a chance, head over to The Pioneer Woman and her latest photography assignment, soldiers coming home. You might want to bring your tissues.
